Autism Awareness Campaign - Unconditional Love

The cure for Autism is “Unconditional Love”..

When Pratibha was around 3 years old, she had the first assessment by a developmental paediatrician.  At the end of assessment, which took 3 to 4 sessions, the Dr. told us that we have to give her a medicine life long. The medicine is “Unconditional Love”..  Was difficult to comprehend at that time.  Later, as days passed, we realised the meaning of what the doctor said.  We started getting “Unconditional Love” many folds in return too..

The above characteristics is unique with people with developmental disabilities such as Autism.  They are so innocent and the medicine “Unconditional Love” work as a wonder medicine.  Will conclude this post with a poem “Hope inexpressible, Love unconditional” by Stephen J Bernad.

The doctor enters the room with tissues
Parents listening, ignorant of the issues
Hope inexpressible
Love unconditionale
Will the child ever go to bed?
Sounds in the night, filling with dread
Hope inexpressible
Love unconditional
Waiting for words, even one or two
Longing desperately to hear, “I love you”
Hope inexpressible
Love unconditional
As time and time relentless flows
Gaps with peers onward grows
Hope inexpressible
Love unconditional
The child leaves our home too soon
Is this disorder our family’s doom?
Hope inexpressible
Love unconditional
Where is God in this chaotic mess?
Countless examples of grace in excess
Hope inexpressible
Love unconditional
Coming to terms with different brains
God’s masterpieces come in different frames
Hope in expressible
Love unconditional
